As Canada is a land of opportunities, gives the security of high living standard and professional growth, so it has become the hottest spot for Indians to migrate and settle down. Getting a Canadian Permanent residency also abbreviated as Canadian PR from India is a series of meticulous steps which when followed can get you in the PR queue. The immigration to Canada guidelines is set by a federal body known as the Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

To qualify for a Canadian PR there are some very basic things that are needed in the first place and those are:

· A valid travel document ie. Valid Passport

· Identity Proof

· Educational qualifications which will have to be assessed and evaluated by WES or any accredited online agency for Canadian equivalency.

· Recent passport photographs

· Your prior work experience (recommendations and references will be needed)

· Completed PR Application along with the required documents

· A valid IELTS score

Out of all the things, one key requirement to apply for Canadian PR from India is the IELTS result and one needs to have a minimum of 6 bands irrespective of the category you are applying under.

Besides this basic checklist, one has to check under which category one is applying for. The immigration procedure is divided into many different categories :

1. Express Entry program

2. Provincial Nominee Program

3. Quebec Skilled worker Program

4. Family sponsorship

Under these categories, there are various ways one can get Canadian PR. But the main difference in the Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program categories is that the Express Entry program allows a candidate to settle anywhere in Canada and the Provincial Nominee Program allows to settle just in a particular province.

There are subcategories under Express Entry Program like Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program.

There are basic requirements for the Indians to apply for the PR and those are:

1. Assessment of Educational credentials: This is the prime thing that is needed to apply for the Express Entry PR program. The assessment is done online by the World Education Services (WES) and they check your educational qualifications for equivalency with a Canadian education.

2. IELTS exam result: IELTS is an English proficiency language test and is most important for the Canadian PR. As the immigration is assessed on a point system, the IELTS score fetches you good points if the IELTS result is above 6 bands.

3. Application Submission: Once the educational qualification assessment is done and the IELTS exam is cleared, the next step is to create a profile online and select the category under which you are applying your PR and submit the completed application online along with the support documents.

4. Comprehensive Ranking System: After you submit the application online, it goes to the CRS which decides whether you qualify for immigration or not on the basis of your age, education, IELTS score, etc. Just in case you do not qualify, you will have to enhance your CRS score by rewriting your IELTS exam and getting a better score or by enhancing your educational qualifications or getting more work experience. All this will help you secure more points for Immigration. On the other hand, if you do qualify for the immigration then, you will get into the Express Entry Draw system which takes place every 15 days.

5. Invitation to Apply: Once you get through the draw and receive an invitation to apply, you will get a few days to apply for PR and then you will finally get the PR Visa
